Mike Byrd — Owner, Engineer & Session Drummer
Mike Byrd has been involved in music since childhood, with experience as a gigging and session drummer, college jazz drummer, and marching/drum line performer. He studied music and audio engineering at Memphis State University and the University of Southern Mississippi, combining a musician’s perspective with a technical understanding of recording and production.
Today, Mike owns and operates Master Session Studios, where that background comes together in recording, mixing, and remote session drumming—with a particular passion for capturing a great drum track while supporting the music.
The philosophy is simple: serve the song, preserve the feel of the performance, and use technology to make better musical decisions—not to replace them.
